Interdisciplinary conferences & events
Encouraging engaged and diverse health research
We organise conferences, symposium, and other academic events that bring together people from a variety of different (academic and other) fields, fostering research on health that uses the best critical and creative humanities tools to promote research that takes seriously the human contexts of health. This provides opportunities that connects people internationally, to share knowledge and collaborate.
Our events are inclusive of academic researchers, lived experience communities, community leaders, policy-makers, and healthcare professionals. We provide travel bursaries and other small grants to make them accessible to more peop.e
Community workshop programmes
Valuing lived experience
Each year we facilitate workshops for members of different patient or disability communities. These focus on connecting people with lived experience, to artists and communicators, with the goal of facilitating ways for people to communicate their experiences to the public and to policy-makers
Research dissemination grants
Funding creative communication
We provide an annual round of small grants, for Otago researchers to disseminate their work in new or creative ways. The encourage academic researchers to partner to artists, creators, performers and communicators, to develop innovative and high-quality ways communicate their findings back to relevant communities, or to the public.
At least one grant each year is earmarked for projects that engage with Indigenous languages.
